Welcome to Dalton St Mary's website. We hope you find the site useful and informative. Our website aims to provide information for parents and families with children in school and information for parents of future pupils of Dalton St Mary's.
If, as a parent of a pupil attending Dalton St Mary's, you require a paper copy of any of the information published on this website, we shall provide this free of charge.
In this section you can find information about our class sizes, uniform, our ethos and values. As well as timetables for our clubs, menus for our school dinners, our newsletters and other important information.
We intend the school to be a happy and enjoyable place to work, which will provide the opportunity for every child and adult to fulfil their potential in an attractive, well resourced and stimulating environment.
We also encourage children to become confident, independent learners who are able to contribute positively to the school and the community in which they live so that they can take their full place in society secure as individuals, whilst able to respect the needs and values of others.
Emergency School Closures
We always endeavour to keep Dalton St Mary's C of E Primary School open and it is never an easy decision if we have to close the school for any reason. It is important for you as parents to be informed as soon as possible of any closures and as a school we will always aim to do this quickly and efficiently. If the school were to close due to inclement weather, it could mean the school site is unsafe or school staff are unable to travel safely from their home to school a decision will be made by 7.30am (at the latest) on the day of the closure. This information will be sent by Groupcall text to all contacts, broadcast on both The Bay Radio and Radio Cumbria and a notice will be posted on the homepage of this website. If the school has to close at any point during the school day, which could be due to electrical, heating or water failure or the onset of inclement weather, the information again will be sent by Groupcall text, broadcast on both The Bay Radio and Radio Cumbria and a notice will be posted on the homepage of this website. Please be assured that we would never unnecessarily close our school and no child would ever be left unattended in the event of a closure. We are fortunate that we do have staff within walking distance of our school and they would be present on the morning of any closure in case a family have not received the information and their child arrives at school. The member of staff would make contact with the family to arrange for those children to be collected and remain with the child(ren) until they are collected safely.
