ofsted logoOfsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. They report directly to Parliament and are independent and impartial. Ofsted inspect and regulate services which care for children and young people, and those providing education and skills for learners of all ages.

As such, Dalton St Mary's CofE School is regularly inspected and the results of those reports are available for anyone to see.

“This is a good school where pupils feel safe and enjoy learning in an encouraging atmosphere. They acquire the personal attributes and key skills necessary for the next stage of education. Teaching is predominantly good and, as a result, pupils are achieving well. Among the staff, there is much enthusiasm and determination to continue improving the school.” (Ofsted)

“In the large majority of lessons observed, pupils enjoyed learning, were attentive, tried hard at their work and supported each other. This confirms their very positive questionnaire responses about learning and enjoying school. At times, they made very good progress because they were greatly enthused by learning and concentrated intently, even when working with little direct supervision. “ (Ofsted)

“Pupils behave well in lessons and around the school. They are considerate and courteous and the school is an orderly community.” (Ofsted)

We will use the information you provide when making decisions about which schools to inspect, and when.

By sharing your views, you’ll be helping your child’s school to improve.

Diocese of Carlisle

diocese carlisle logoDalton St Mary's CofE Primary School was last inspected by the Diocese of Carlisle's Board of Education on 30th January 2015.

“The distinctiveness and effectiveness of Dalton St Mary’s CE Primary School as a Church of England school are outstanding" (SIAS)

"The Christian character of the school remains distinctive and is its defining feature. This is intrinsic to every aspect of school life. The impact this has on pupils’ spiritual moral, social, and to a lesser extent their cultural development, is very marked. The strong and mutually supportive links with the church significantly encourage, nourish and challenge children’s knowledge and understanding of Christian faith.“ (SIAS)
